Purchasing and Installing a Dummy Security Camera with a Motion Sensor
Dummy security cameras are much less expensive than the real thing. Plus, you don't have the added bother and expense of monitoring the camera. You do, however, have the problem of plausibility; most dummy security cameras are not very believable. (If you are looking for a) believable camera, you may wish to try using a dummy security camera with motion sensor. The motion sensor allows the camera to detect motion. The camera can then swivel up and down and side to side to 'sweep' the area, on the less expensive ones, or even locate and track objects that move, in the more expensive ones.
The ones that can actually track moving objects are by far the most believeable of the two. If you're going to invest in the purchase of a dummy security camera with motion sensor, then you probably want to go the extra mile and purchase one of the higher-end cameras that actually tracks movement.
Some home improvement stores, especially the larger ones, will actually come and install the security camera with motion sensor, either for free or for a modest fee. For some, however, you may have to install it yourself or hire a contractor to do it for you.
The easiest security cameras with a motion sensor to install are the ones that run off of a battery, because they can often be installed simply by screwing in brackets to hold them up. The next easiest is plugged in, usually into a discreet plug. This one also usually has to be screwed in, but a new plug may be required. This, of course, means more work to put them in.
The most difficult security cameras with a motion sensor to install are actually wired directly into the system. These will almost always require the services of a professional electrician in order to install them.
Choose the system you will need based on your requirements and the resources you will have available.
